Blended red wines of the Douro have long been underrated. Animus is a combination of three indigenous Portuguese grapes—40% Touriga Franca, 30% Tinto Roriz (Tempranillo), 30% Touriga Nacional)—that fit together like birds of a feather. Temperature-controlled fermentation and extended maceration impart generous red-fruit aromas, ripe plum flavors and a long, balanced finish. Pairs well with pizza, chicken and pasta. Produced by Vicente Faria; marketed by Bronco Wine Co.
