A complex process that yields an astounding result – the smoothly peated yet perfectly balanced liquid that is The Ardmore. Traditionally handcrafted in the Scottish Highlands, The Ardmore distillery has been watched over by a family of rare eagles, since 1898. This is a place, and indeed a process, that brings man, might and metal together in a celebration of the raw power of nature.
The maturing process of the Ardmore Traditional Peated consists of two different periods. During the first phase, the Speyside whisky is filled in ex-bourbon casks that are made of White American oak (Quercus alba). They have been selected carefully and imported from the USA.
Afterwards it is stored in quarter casks. These casks are smaller than the former ones. Thus, the Scotch has more contact to the wood and can develop a stronger and more distinctive character.
