Although Jura's distillery was reborn in 1963, it has stood in the same spot since first opening in 1810. So for it's 200th anniversary, Jura has decided to celebrate with a 21-year-old whisky matured in Oloroso sherry casks, just like they did back in the day.
A full-bodied work of art with marzipan, walnuts and bitter chocolate, and has been well aged for 21 years. The vintage casks used give this whisky a fantastic quality - this is now a discontinued expression.
Nose: Full and fragrant. Notes of toffee and fudge, a touch of vanilla with a spread of sweet nuts. There are honeyed notes creeping in with tones Tokaji and port.
Palate: Good body with notes of winter cake, damson jam, marzipan and an uprising of cooked fruit with winter spice and fudge.
Finish: Medium-length with notes of chewy oak tannins.
